Row over ‘Dhurandhar 2’ review: Prashant sambaragi hits back at Ramya

Bengaluru : A sharp war of words has erupted over the film Dhurandhar 2, with producer and social activist Prashant Sambaragi launching a strong counterattack against actor and former MP Ramya for her critical remarks on the movie.
The controversy began after Ramya took to social media to describe the film as “boring” and advised audiences not to waste their time and money watching it. Her comments quickly drew attention online, sparking debates among film circles and political observers.
Reacting strongly, Sambaragi questioned Ramya’s credibility as a critic and accused her of being politically biased. “Ramya, you are not a film expert. You are just a Congress cheerleader wearing the garb of an actor. As someone who has worked as a distributor, producer and in major studios and radio stations, I feel compelled to respond,” he said.
Expressing his anger, he added, “Your comments have made my blood boil. This is a wake-up call for you. Your opinions are politically motivated. You are not viewing the film as an audience member, but as a political supporter.”
Sambaragi further challenged Ramya to substantiate her criticism. “Point out one scene, one character or one aspect in Dhurandhar 2 that is false or incorrect. I am from the same industry, and I challenge you on this,” he said.
He also referred to Ramya’s past remarks about Pakistan, stating, “You had once said Pakistan is not hell but heaven after visiting in 2019. But global indices now rank it high in terrorism. This film is based on such threats.”
Defending the film’s narrative, Sambaragi clarified, “Dhurandhar 2 is not about Indian Muslims but about Pakistani elements. True secularism in India means facing facts, not selective outrage.”
The exchange has added a political dimension to the film’s reception, with supporters from both sides weighing in on social media. The debate highlights the growing intersection of cinema, politics and public opinion, especially when films touch upon sensitive themes related to nationalism and security.
