Vivek Agnihotri announces the movie ‘Operation Sindoor’

The film is collaboration with T-Series head Bhushan Kumar and is being positioned as a research-heavy war drama.

Operation Sindoor: Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has officially announced his next major project, ‘Operation Sindoor’, today, March 26, 2026. The film is collaboration with T-Series head Bhushan Kumar and is being positioned as a research-heavy war drama.

It marks a shift for Agnihotri after the completion of his “Files” trilogy (The Tashkent Files, The Kashmir Files, and his most recent 2025 release, The Bengal Files).

The movie is based on the book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan by Lt Gen K. J. S. ‘Tiny’ Dhillon (Retd).

It chronicles India’s military retaliation following the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. The film will focus on the specific operations conducted between May 6 and May 10, 2025, which involved targeted strikes on terror infrastructure across the border.

In his announcement, Agnihotri stated that the film aims to “expose Pakistan’s nuclear bluff” and demonstrate India’s might in modern warfare. He emphasized that the project is backed by ground-level research conducted in collaboration with various wings of the Indian Armed Forces.

It will be jointly produced by I Am Buddha Productions and T-Series. While the project has been officially greenlit, details regarding the cast and release date are still under wraps. Agnihotri has hinted that the narrative will be “unsettling” and “complex,” moving beyond the headlines available in the public domain.

This announcement comes amid a surge of interest in military-themed cinema following the massive box-office success of other recent films like Dhurandhar 2.
