Man killed by brother-in-law over car dispute near Hindupur; three arrested

Anekal: In a shocking case of family dispute turning fatal, a 37-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his brother-in-law and his associates over a financial disagreement related to a car purchase. The incident occurred near Melya under the jurisdiction of Hindupur police limits.
The deceased has been identified as Vinay Kumar (37), a resident of Chikkabanavara in Bengaluru. Police have arrested the main accused Raju, along with his associates Venu and Shreyas in connection with the murder.
According to police sources, Vinay Kumar had married Meghana around 10 months ago in an arranged marriage. However, the couple had reportedly been facing frequent quarrels since their wedding, with tensions escalating in recent weeks.
The dispute intensified over the issue of purchasing a car. It is alleged that Meghana insisted that Vinay arrange money through her brother Raju for the purchase. Following this, Vinay reportedly went to meet Raju near Melya on Saturday night around 9 pm to discuss the financial matter.
During the meeting, an argument broke out between Vinay and the accused over money. In a fit of rage, Raju and his associates allegedly attacked Vinay on the head, killing him on the spot. In an attempt to conceal the crime, the accused threw the body, along with his motorcycle, into a nearby canal.
The crime came to light when the motorcycle’s GPS signal was tracked, raising suspicion among family members. Police were alerted, and a search operation led to the recovery of the body from the canal.
Vinay’s parents were informed about the incident on Sunday morning, leaving the family in shock. The body has been sent for postmortem examination and will be handed over to the family later. The last rites are expected to be conducted in his native village Appahalli in Anantapur district.
A case has been registered at Hindupur police station, and further investigation is underway.
