The appointment follows a record-breaking acquisition of the franchise from United Spirits Limited (Diageo) by a consortium led by the Aditya Birla Group.  Approximately $1.78 billion (around ₹16,706 crore), making it one of the most expensive team purchases in global sports history.

The deal includes 100% equity in both the RCB Men’s (IPL) and RCB Women’s (WPL) teams. Led by the Aditya Birla Group, the group also includes the Times of India Group, Bolt Ventures (led by David Blitzer), and the private equity firm Blackstone.

He was picked up by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL auction and remained with the squad for two seasons, though he did not get a game.

In recent years, Aryaman has pivoted toward the family business. In early 2023, he (along with his sister Ananya Birla) was inducted into the boards of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (ABFRL) and Grasim Industries. This marked a significant step in his leadership training within the $65 billion conglomerate.
