Fiance suspected in brutal killing of minor girl in DJ Halli

Authorities from DJ Halli Police Station have registered a case and initiated a manhunt to nab the accused. Sources said the case was brought to light by the accused’s own family members.

Bengaluru: A gruesome murder of a minor girl has been reported from DJ Halli area in Bengaluru, where her fiancé is suspected to have killed her and fled the scene. The incident took place at an abandoned house near Sakkare Mandi early Monday morning.

Police said the accused, Shabeel (20), allegedly slit the girl’s throat around 6.30 am. However, the crime came to light only at around 11 am. The victim’s body was discovered in a deserted structure, triggering panic in the locality.

Authorities from DJ Halli Police Station have registered a case and initiated a manhunt to nab the accused. Sources said the case was brought to light by the accused’s own family members.

Speaking on the incident, DCP (East) Vikram Amathe said, “The SOCO team has visited the scene and conducted a detailed inspection. We have clarity on the accused, but the exact reason behind the murder will be known only after his arrest.”

He further noted that the crime scene belongs to the accused’s relatives and was not occupied. “It was an abandoned building, and we have learned that the victim and the accused used to meet there,” he added. Initial findings indicate that the two were engaged and were expected to marry soon, making the incident even more disturbing.

Police officials said efforts are underway to trace the  accused  and gather more evidence. The motive, weapon used, and sequence of events are yet to be established.
