Bigg Boss runner-up Rakshita Shetty receives grand homecoming in Udupi

Udupi: Bigg Boss runner-up Rakshita Shetty was accorded a grand and emotional welcome in her hometown on Wednesday, as hundreds of fans gathered to celebrate her journey and success on the popular reality show.

The reception turned into a festive procession, reflecting Rakshita’s strong connect with coastal culture and local traditions. Rakshita was taken in a celebratory procession from Hejamady toll gate to Padubidri, where enthusiastic fans lined the roads to catch a glimpse of the reality show star.

Standing atop an open vehicle, Rakshita waved to supporters, smiling and acknowledging the overwhelming response from the crowd. What caught everyone’s attention, however, was Rakshita holding bangude (mackerel) fish in her hand during the procession — a gesture that instantly went viral on social media.

Rakshita’s fondness for fish, especially bangude and bhuthai varieties, is well known among her followers. In several of her vlogs, she has openly spoken about her love for coastal seafood, often visiting fish markets and interacting with women vendors.

During her stint in the Bigg Boss house as well, Rakshita had made a special request to invite fisherfolk into the show to highlight their lives and struggles before the people of Karnataka.

An admirer, aware of her affection for fish and coastal traditions, handed her the fish during the procession, turning the moment into a symbolic celebration of her roots. “This is who Rakshita is — simple, grounded and proud of her culture,” said a fan who joined the procession.

Hundreds of people had gathered at Hejamady toll gate much before her arrival after news of her return spread across the region. Fans walked alongside her vehicle, cheering, clicking photos and showering her with affection as the procession moved towards Padubidri.

Rakshita gained immense popularity during Bigg Boss for her candid nature and strong opinions. Several of her statements from the show went viral on social media platforms. In particular, a video in which she explained the significance of Kambala to fellow contestant Mallamma received massive traction along the coastal belt.

Despite not being fluent in Kannada, Rakshita consistently spoke about coastal culture, traditions and lifestyle, earning admiration from viewers. Her authenticity and cultural pride played a major role in her rising popularity, making her one of the most talked-about contestants this season.

The grand welcome in Udupi has once again underlined Rakshita Shetty’s deep bond with her roots and the strong fan base she enjoys across coastal Karnataka.
