The number has since climbed as more injured victims have succumbed to their wounds. The investigation has revealed that this i20 car was used as part of a terrorist conspiracy, and every effort was made to conceal its identity:

Sold multiple times: The car passed through several hands and changed ownership repeatedly. This was done deliberately to make it difficult to trace the car’s end user.

Pulwama and Jaish-e-Mohammed connection: The investigation has revealed a direct connection to the car’s end users in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. One of the car’s previous owners allegedly sold it to a man named Tariq, a resident of Pulwama. According to reports, he was part of a module linked to the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Link to Faridabad Module: The biggest revelation is that the car was used by Dr. Mohammad Umar (a Pulwama-born doctor), allegedly a key member of the terrorist module recently arrested in Faridabad.

Investigating agencies believe that Dr. Umar, panicked by the arrest of his associates and fearing capture, hastily packed the car with explosives and used it as a suicide attack. His body is suspected to be found in the car, a fact that needs to be confirmed through DNA testing.

How did the car reach Red Fort?

Based on CCTV footage and investigations, a complete timeline of the car’s journey to Red Fort has emerged:

Entry into Delhi: The i20 car (bearing a Haryana registration number) entered Delhi from the Badarpur border around 8:04 am.

Parking: Around 3:19 pm, the car entered the Sunheri Masjid parking lot near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station.

Three-hour parking: The car remained parked there for approximately three hours. This indicates that the suspected attacker monitored the location or waited for the right moment before attacking.

Explosion: The car left the parking lot at 6:48 pm and exploded at 6:52 pm at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station.
