Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam: Education board issued important order

Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam: The Karnataka School Examination and Evaluation Board has issued an important order stating that it is mandatory to obtain at least 21 marks in the written examination for subjects with a Karnataka 2nd PUC practical examination in the state and at least 24 marks in the written examination for subjects without a practical examination.

In connection with the above matter and as per the government order in reference (1), the government has ordered to fix the minimum pass percentage for practical and non-practical examination subjects from the academic year 2025-26.

Accordingly, the examinations will be conducted based on the syllabus published by the Department of School Education (Pre-Degree) for Language and Optional Subjects and the results will be declared as follows.

From the academic year 2025-26, a new syllabus has been implemented for the subjects of Psychology, Computer Scienec and Home science, and a question paper will be prepared as per the new syllabus for fresh students and private candidates.

For repeat candidates of the said subjects, a question paper will be prepared and the examination will be conducted as per the old syllabus only for the examinations of 2025-26 and 2026-27. The following minimum pass percentage will be applicable for fresh, private and repeat candidates appearing for the examination from the year 2025-26.

For subjects without practical examination, the written examination and minimum pass percentage have been fixed as follows. For language and optional subjects (except Carnatic Music and Hindustani Music subjects) without practical examination, 80 marks are allotted for written examination and 20 marks for internal assessment as per reference (2) published by the Department of School Education (Pre-Degree).

For subjects without practical examination, the question paper design, blueprint and question papers are prepared for a maximum of 80 marks. It is mandatory to obtain at least 24 marks out of a maximum of 80 marks in the written examination of each subject. A candidate who obtains at least 30 marks including internal marks and a total of 33% marks in all subjects will be declared passed.

For subjects with practical examination, the written examination, practical examination and minimum passing percentage are as follows. A maximum of 40 marks written and 60 marks practical examination will be conducted in Carnatic Music and Hindustani Music subjects.

To pass, it is mandatory to obtain at least 12 marks in the written examination and at least 18 marks in the practical examination in a single examination. A candidate who scores a minimum of 30 marks in these two components and a total of 33% marks in all subjects will be declared passed. The written test in NSQF subjects will be conducted for a maximum of 60 marks, converted to 30 marks.

The practical test will be conducted for a maximum of 50 marks and 20 marks are allotted for internal assessment. To pass, it is mandatory to obtain at least 10 marks out of 30 marks in the written test and at least 18 marks in the practical test in a single examination. A candidate who scores a minimum of 30 marks in these three components and a total of 33% marks in all subjects will be declared passed.

Practical subjects of Science Combination:

Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Electronics and Home Science, a written test of 70 marks and a practical test of 30 marks have been fixed as per reference (2) based on the syllabus published by the Department of School Education (Pre-Graduate).

The question paper design, blueprint and question papers for the said subjects are prepared for a maximum of 70 marks. It is mandatory to obtain at least 21 marks for a maximum of 70 marks in the written test of each subject.

If a candidate obtains at least 30 marks including the practical test marks and a total of 33% marks in all the subjects, such a candidate will be declared passed. The maximum marks for the practical test are 30 marks, and there is no minimum limit for this.
