Bigg Boss studio seal case reaches Karnataka High Court; Urgent hearing sought
Bigg Boss Studio: The Wales Studio and Entertainment Ltd., which produces the popular Bigg Boss Kannada reality show, has filed a petition before the Karnataka High Court challenging the district administration’s decision to seal the Bigg Boss house located in the Bidadi Industrial Area. The action was taken for alleged violations of the Environmental Pollution Control Act.
The petition was mentioned on Wednesday before a bench headed by Justice R. Nataraj, where the petitioner’s counsel requested an urgent hearing of the matter. The bench agreed to take up the case for hearing in the afternoon session.
The district administration’s action followed findings by the District Pollution Control Board, which accused the studio management of discharging untreated wastewater from the Jollywood Entertainment Park, where the Bigg Boss house is located.
Although the company claimed to have a 250 KLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), officials found it was non-functional. The presence of 625 KVA and 500 KVA diesel generators allegedly caused air and noise pollution, and waste management at the site was also reportedly poor, with wet and dry waste not being properly segregated or disposed of.
Despite repeated notices issued by the district authorities, the studio allegedly failed to respond, prompting the Tehsildar, under police protection, to seal the premises.
Following the sealing, all Bigg Boss contestants and staff were shifted to a resort on the outskirts of Bengaluru. According to sources, the production team held an emergency meeting after the administration’s late-night order to vacate the premises. Contestants were transported by cars to a nearby private hotel as a temporary measure.
If the issue is resolved legally, contestants may return to the Bigg Boss house; otherwise, the show’s continuation may face hurdles. Meanwhile, police have strengthened security around the studio to prevent any untoward incidents.
The controversy has sparked widespread discussion in entertainment and legal circles, as uncertainty looms over whether the ongoing season of Bigg Boss Kannada will continue broadcasting or face an abrupt suspension.
