According to reports from August 9, 2025, over 100 flights to and from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) have been delayed.  Some sources indicate as many as 135 flights were delayed.

 In response to the situation, both IndiGo and SpiceJet have issued travel advisories for their passengers. The advisories urge travelers to check their flight status before heading to the airport and to allow for extra time for their journey due to traffic congestion on the roads.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a “red alert” for Delhi, forecasting more thunderstorms and heavy rain for the day. Waterlogging has been reported in numerous areas, including Mathura Road, Shastri Bhawan, and RK Puram, further compounding traffic problems.

Heavy rainfall has caused significant disruption in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) today, Saturday, August 9, 2025. Delhi Airport has stated that all flight operations are currently normal despite the weather conditions, but it is always advisable for travelers to confirm their flight status with their airline.

Widespread Waterlogging: Numerous areas in the city are waterlogged, leading to severe traffic congestion. Some of the most affected areas include Mathura Road, Shastri Bhawan, R.K. Puram, Moti Bagh, Kidwai Nagar, and Panchkuian Marg.

Weather Forecast: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a “red alert” for most parts of Delhi-NCR, warning of continued heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning throughout the day.

The maximum temperature is expected to be around 33°C, with a minimum of 25°C. This is a developing situation, and residents are advised to exercise caution and stay updated on traffic and weather conditions.
