Rishab Shetty Birthday: On the occasion of Rishab Shetty’s birthday today, July 7, 2025, the makers of the highly anticipated prequel, “Kantara Chapter 1,” have indeed reconfirmed its worldwide grand release date as October 2, 2025.

Hombale Films, the production house, shared a fierce and visually striking new poster of Rishab Shetty from the film to mark the occasion and solidify the release date. The poster features him in a primal, battle-ready stance, hinting at the intense and mythological journey the prequel will take audiences on.

This announcement puts to rest any previous rumors of delays and assures fans that the film is on track to arrive on Gandhi Jayanti in 2025. “Kantara: Chapter 1” aims to delve into the origins of the legend and the rich folklore that captivated audiences in the first “Kantara” film.

Kantara” (2022) was a phenomenal success at the box office, far exceeding expectations for a film made on a relatively modest budget. The movie’s worldwide gross collections crossed the Rs 400 crore mark in 53 days and went on to accumulate even more.

Various reports from late 2022 indicated that the final worldwide gross collection for “Kantara” ranged between Rs 400 crore to Rs 450 crore. It became one of the highest-grossing Kannada films of all time, second only to “KGF: Chapter 2” (also from Hombale Films).

It was a massive sleeper hit, gaining momentum through strong word-of-mouth after its initial release. The film performed exceptionally well not just in its original Kannada language, but also in its dubbed versions (Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam), which significantly contributed to its global earnings.
