KSRTC Bus Driven with Mobile Flashlight After Headlights Fail in Karnataka

A KSRTC bus in Karnataka completed its journey after the headlights failed with the conductor using a mobile flashlight to guide the driver raising serious passenger safety concerns.

Bengaluru: A video showing a Karnataka state transport bus being driven at night with the help of a mobile phone flashlight has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread discussion over passenger safety and vehicle maintenance.

The incident reportedly occurred on the final KSRTC bus service operating between Kalaburagi and Chincholi. During the journey, the bus headlights stopped working, leaving the vehicle without proper visibility on the dark highway.

To ensure the bus could continue moving, the conductor stood at the front and used the flashlight from his mobile phone to illuminate the road ahead. The driver then carefully navigated the route at a slow speed until the bus reached its destination, covering nearly 90 kilometres.

A passenger recorded the unusual scene and shared the video online, where it quickly attracted attention. Officials have not yet confirmed when or how the headlights malfunctioned during the trip.

The incident has drawn mixed reactions from the public. Some people praised the driver and conductor for remaining committed to completing the journey despite the unexpected problem. Others questioned why the bus was allowed to continue operating, arguing that carrying passengers without functioning headlights put lives at unnecessary risk.

The viral video has once again raised concerns about the maintenance of public transport vehicles and the importance of ensuring all safety systems are fully operational before buses begin their scheduled services.
