Police Seek Lie Detector Test for Main Accused in Ketan Agarwal Murder Case

Investigators have approached the court seeking permission to conduct a lie detector test on the main accused, saying the probe lacks direct evidence identifying who pushed Ketan Agarwal into the gorge.

The investigation into the murder of Pune based realtor Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn, with police requesting the court’s permission to conduct a lie detector test on the prime accused, Sia Goyal. Investigators said the examination could help uncover crucial leads that remain missing in the case.

According to the police, there is currently no direct evidence establishing who pushed Ketan Agarwal into the gorge during the incident near Lohagad Fort on June 18. Officials told the court that additional scientific methods may assist in piecing together the sequence of events.

Investigators have already recorded the statements of Sia Goyal and another accused, Chetan Chaudhary. However, police believe their statements alone are not sufficient to establish the complete facts surrounding the alleged murder. They argued that a polygraph examination could help generate fresh investigative leads, even though such test results are not treated as direct evidence in court.

The probe has also shifted its focus to digital evidence. Police found that Ketan Agarwal’s mobile phone remained with Sia Goyal for some time after the incident. Forensic experts are now examining the device to determine whether any important data or records were deleted.

As part of the investigation, police have already recreated the crime scene to better understand how the incident unfolded. Investigators are comparing the reconstruction with witness statements, forensic findings and digital evidence collected during the probe.

Both Sia Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary remain in police custody until July 3 as investigators continue gathering evidence and await the court’s decision on the request for the lie detector test.
