New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation launched the sixth phase of Operation Chakra, carrying out simultaneous raids at more than 80 locations across 16 states as part of its nationwide campaign against digital fraud.
During the operation, investigators arrested two suspects identified as Sanjib Saha from Kolkata and Naresh from Chennai. The action follows increasing concerns over cyber fraud and comes after the Supreme Court stressed the need for stronger measures to tackle digital financial crimes.
According to the CBI, the investigation has uncovered indications of an organised fraud network operating across multiple states. Officials believe the syndicate allegedly created a fake website closely resembling the official website of the Supreme Court to deceive members of the public.
Search teams recovered a large volume of digital records, electronic devices, and other evidence from the raided locations. The seized material will now be examined to identify additional suspects, trace financial transactions, and determine the full extent of the alleged operation.
The CBI said the investigation is continuing and further action may follow based on the evidence collected during the nationwide crackdown on digital fraud.
