Southwest Monsoon Likely to Reach Kerala Soon
The long-awaited Southwest Monsoon is expected to reach Kerala within the next few days, bringing hope for rainfall and relief from intense summer heat across several regions.

As scorching temperatures continue across many parts of India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has shared encouraging news about the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon. According to the latest forecast, monsoon winds are likely to reach the Kerala coast within the next two to three days, possibly on June 4 or 5.
The monsoon usually arrives in Kerala around June 1, but this year its progress has been slightly delayed. The delay has raised concerns among farmers and communities dependent on seasonal rainfall. However, weather officials say conditions are now becoming favorable for its arrival.
Meteorologists explained that the official declaration of monsoon onset depends on several factors, including rainfall levels, wind direction, and wind speed. While many weather stations in Kerala have reported rain, all required conditions have not yet been fully met.
Earlier forecasts suggested the monsoon could arrive by the end of May. However, changing atmospheric conditions and weaker wind patterns over surrounding regions slowed its movement toward the Indian coast.
Once the monsoon enters Kerala, it will gradually advance across other parts of the country. Many areas in northern and central India are still experiencing heatwave conditions, and the arrival of the monsoon is expected to provide much-needed relief.
