WhatsApp has rolled out a major update for Apple CarPlay, allowing users to manage calls and messages directly from their car screens. With this update, the app’s interface has been redesigned to be cleaner and more organized, separating chat and call history into distinct sections. According to the company, this aims to reduce distractions and enhance safety while driving.

Previously, WhatsApp’s CarPlay functionality relied mostly on voice commands and offered a limited in-car experience. Now, users will find an interface closer to their phone, fully optimized for the car display. Recent chats and call logs are immediately visible, and a dedicated section for favorite contacts ensures quick access to frequently contacted people without reaching for the phone.

The update also introduces quick action buttons that let users send messages via voice typing or start a call with a single tap. This feature is designed to minimize interaction while keeping the driver’s attention on the road. The interface is intuitive, ensuring drivers can communicate efficiently without unnecessary distractions.

To use the new CarPlay features, users must have an iPhone 5 or later, iOS version 26.4 or higher, the latest WhatsApp version, and Siri enabled. The car must also support Apple CarPlay. Once connected, the WhatsApp icon appears on the car’s infotainment system, giving access to chats and calls. If the icon does not appear automatically, users can manually add it via the CarPlay settings on their iPhone.
