Philips New 5G Smartphone Launching In India With 64MP Camera And 120Hz Display

Philips will launch its new 5G smartphone in India on September 2 with a 120Hz display, 64MP camera, up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Philips is preparing to make another entry into India’s competitive smartphone market, with its upcoming 5G device scheduled to launch on September 2, 2026. An Amazon microsite has already revealed the launch date, design and several key specifications, although the company has not yet officially confirmed the smartphone’s name.

The device is expected to target buyers looking for an affordable 5G phone with a large display, capable camera hardware and generous storage. Its final pricing will be revealed around the launch, but the specifications suggest that Philips could position it in the budget or lower mid range category.

The upcoming Philips smartphone is expected to feature a 6.67 inch HD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The higher refresh rate should make everyday actions such as scrolling through webpages, switching between apps and viewing supported animations feel smoother than on conventional 60Hz panels.

The front design includes a punch hole cutout for the selfie camera, along with relatively slim bezels. Philips branding can be seen along the lower portion of the display. At the back, the phone carries a rectangular camera module positioned toward the upper left corner. Two camera sensors are arranged vertically inside the module, accompanied by an LED flash.

Camera performance is another major highlight of the upcoming device. It is expected to carry a 64MP AI assisted primary rear camera, while a 16MP front camera is planned for selfies and video calls. The camera setup appears aimed at users who want higher resolution photography without moving into the premium smartphone segment.

Philips will reportedly offer the phone with 6GB and 8GB RAM options. Storage choices are expected to include 128GB and 256GB, giving buyers the flexibility to select a configuration based on their usage. The inclusion of 5G connectivity is also likely to make the device more competitive among affordable smartphones available in India.

Audio is another area where Philips appears to be adding a little extra. The phone will come with dual stereo speakers and support for the company’s Ultra Max Audio branding. This could make the device more appealing to users who regularly watch videos, listen to music or consume other content directly through their phone speakers.

The smartphone is also expected to carry an IP64 rating. This provides protection against dust and offers resistance to water splashes, although it should not be treated as protection for submersion in water.

One detail that remains unclear is the official name. Philips has not announced it yet. However, an earlier Amazon listing reportedly showed the model as Philips S7221. That name could be used for the Indian launch, but confirmation is still awaited from the company.

Pricing remains another unanswered question. Philips has not disclosed the Indian price, and current expectations place the phone somewhere within the budget or mid range segment. The smartphone will be sold through Amazon, according to the information revealed so far.

With the September 2 launch approaching, more details about the exact name, price, variants and availability are expected to emerge soon. For Philips, the new 5G smartphone marks an attempt to gain attention in a market where buyers have a wide range of options across different price segments.
