BC Patil Questions Zero Traffic Arrangement For Priyank Kharge In Bengaluru
Former minister BC Patil has questioned the reported zero traffic arrangement for Home Minister Priyank Kharge during his airport journey, alleging that commuters faced unnecessary delays.
Bengaluru traffic arrangements have once again become a political talking point after former minister BC Patil criticised the reported use of zero traffic for Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge while travelling towards the airport.
Patil claimed that traffic police temporarily stopped vehicles during the early morning hours and told commuters that a zero traffic arrangement was in place because the Home Minister was travelling to the airport. According to him, the move caused inconvenience to several passengers heading towards the airport.
The former minister raised the issue through a post on X and questioned whether such an arrangement was necessary for the Home Minister.
BC Patil raises questions over traffic stoppage
Recalling the incident, Patil said he was travelling from Bengaluru towards the airport at around 5.30 am when traffic police stopped vehicles on the road. When he asked about the reason for the stoppage, he was reportedly told that a zero traffic arrangement had been made for Priyank Kharge.
Patil claimed that the traffic restrictions left several commuters worried about reaching the airport on time. He said some passengers were concerned that they could miss their flights because of the sudden traffic hold up.
The former minister argued that VIP movement should not create unnecessary problems for ordinary travellers, particularly those rushing to catch scheduled flights.
Criticism over zero traffic system
Patil strongly objected to the reported decision and said he did not believe the Home Minister required a zero traffic arrangement while travelling to the airport.
He alleged that the traffic stoppage itself resulted in congestion and inconvenience for the public. According to Patil, the authorities should consider the difficulties faced by regular commuters before implementing such arrangements.
The comments have added another political controversy around traffic management in Bengaluru, where airport routes can already experience heavy congestion during busy hours.
Patil questions special treatment
Patil also questioned whether Priyank Kharge was receiving special treatment because he is the son of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.
He urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take note of the matter and ensure that government officials follow established procedures while making traffic arrangements for ministers and other public figures.
Patil said the government should ensure that security and official responsibilities are handled without unnecessarily disrupting the movement of ordinary citizens.
The allegations have so far been raised by Patil, while the details surrounding the reported traffic arrangement and the reasons behind it would need to be clarified by the concerned authorities.
