Boltt Phones Get Seven Year Software Life With New 3 Plus 4 Update Promise
Boltt has announced three major Android upgrades and four years of security updates for its Ace 5G and Evo smartphones, strengthening long term software support.
Indian smartphone brand Boltt has made its software support policy one of the key highlights of its first smartphones. The company has confirmed that the Boltt Ace 5G and Boltt Evo will receive three major Android operating system upgrades along with four years of security updates.
The announcement comes just before the smartphones enter the Indian market. Both models currently run Android 16, meaning buyers can expect three major Android version upgrades during the promised software support period. Boltt says security patches will be provided for four years, with updates planned at least once every three months.
The company has also kept room for faster action when a serious security issue appears. In such situations, Boltt says it can release an additional security update instead of waiting for the next scheduled quarterly patch.
The software support period will begin from the official launch date of each smartphone. However, Boltt has pointed out that the actual timing of major Android updates can depend on factors such as chipset support, platform requirements and Google certification. Therefore, users should not expect every Android version to arrive immediately after its official release.
The two smartphones are scheduled to go on sale exclusively through Flipkart from September 1, 2026. Boltt has also announced special Day 1 pricing for both models.
The Ace 5G has a starting price of Rs 13,999, while the introductory Day 1 price starts at Rs 12,999. The Boltt Evo is priced from Rs 10,999, with its first day offer bringing the starting price down to Rs 9,999.
Boltt Ace 5G focuses on a large display and battery
The Ace 5G comes with a 6.79 inch HD Plus LCD display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 600 nits. The smartphone is powered by the Unisoc T8200 chipset and is offered with 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM options.
Storage choices include 64GB and 128GB, while a microSD card can expand the available storage up to 1TB. For photography, the phone carries a 64MP primary rear camera and an 8MP front camera.
A 6000mAh battery powers the device, with support for 18W wired charging. The connectivity package includes 5G, NFC, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0 and a USB Type C port.
Boltt Evo targets buyers looking for a lower priced option
The Boltt Evo shares the same 6.79 inch HD Plus display size and also offers a 120Hz refresh rate with brightness reaching up to 600 nits. Its performance comes from the Unisoc T7250 chipset.
The Evo is available with 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage. Users can further expand storage up to 1TB through a microSD card.
For cameras, the phone features a 50MP main sensor paired with a 2MP macro camera. An 8MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. Like the Ace 5G, the Evo packs a 6000mAh battery and runs Android 16.
Long software support could give Boltt an edge
For budget smartphone buyers, hardware specifications are usually the first thing that attracts attention. Software support, however, can make a significant difference after the initial purchase.
Boltt is now trying to bring that point into focus with its three major Android upgrades and four year security commitment. This could make the Ace 5G and Evo more appealing to customers who prefer keeping a phone for several years instead of replacing it frequently.
The company has entered a highly competitive price segment, but its update policy gives the two new smartphones another point of difference. The real test will come with the speed and consistency of future software releases once the phones reach customers.
