RCB ready to release 3 top players for IPL 2026

RCB: Won the IPL 2025 title, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will be looking to fine-tune their squad for continued success in IPL 2026. This often involves releasing players who haven’t performed up to their price tag or who might be surplus to requirements, in order to free up funds for the upcoming auction. Based on recent reports and the performance in IPL 2025, here are three players RCB could consider releasing to free up over Rs 15 crore ahead of the IPL 2026 auction:

1. Liam Livingstone (Rs 8.75 crore): The English all-rounder was brought in with high expectations for the 2025 season but struggled to consistently deliver with both bat and ball. While he showed glimpses of his power, his overall returns of 112 runs in 10 innings at an average of 16 and just 2 wickets in 4 matches with the ball did not justify his hefty price tag. Releasing him would free up a significant chunk of their purse.

2. Rasikh Salam (Rs 6 crore): The young pacer had a very limited impact in IPL 2025 for RCB, playing only two matches and picking up a solitary wicket. With Yash Dayal performing well and other pace options available, Rasikh found himself on the bench for most of the season. A ₹6 crore price tag for a player not consistently featuring in the playing XI is a luxury RCB might look to shed to invest in a more impactful option.

3. Swapnil Singh (Rs 50 lakh): While his price tag is much smaller, Swapnil Singh didn’t feature in a single game for RCB in IPL 2025 after playing seven matches in 2024. The emergence of Krunal Pandya as a reliable spin-bowling all-rounder further reduced his chances. Releasing Swapnil would free up a roster spot, allowing RCB to potentially bring in a younger or more dynamic Indian option who can contribute more actively.

By releasing these three players, RCB could potentially free up a total of Rs 15.25 crore (Rs 8.75 crore + Rs 6 crore + Rs 0.50 crore), providing them with substantial funds to target key players in the IPL 2026 auction and further strengthen their championship-winning squad.

It’s important to remember that these are potential releases based on analysis of recent performance and squad dynamics. The final decisions will be made by the RCB management closer to the auction, considering various factors including retention rules, team strategy, and player form.
