Bengaluru: The intense political suspense surrounding the leadership change in the state has finally come to an end. KPCC President DK Shivakumar has been unanimously elected as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka.

This official decision was taken during the crucial Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting held on Saturday at the Conference Hall of Vidhana Soudha. Following Siddaramaiah’s resignation from the Chief Minister’s post, D.K. Shivakumar’s name emerged at the forefront. In today’s CLP meeting, following the completion of formal procedures, he was officially announced as the new leader.

Having successfully led the party as the State Congress President and serving as the deputy Chief minister in the Siddaramaiah-led government for the last three years, Shivakumar is now set to occupy the state’s highest office.

Before arriving at the CLP meeting, DK Shivakumar offered special prayers to his revered deity, Nonavinakere Ajjayya, in a room at Vidhana Soudha. Senior leaders Jairam Ramesh, K.C. Venugopal, and State Congress In-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala attended the high-command meeting as AICC observers.

As the meeting commenced, the newly elected CM D.K. Shivakumar personally walked up to every MLA in the hall, grabbing everyone’s attention by shaking their hands and expressing gratitude for their support.

Swearing-In Ceremony Scheduled for June 3:

The date for the swearing-in ceremony has been fixed in accordance with an auspicious time and under the guidance of the seers of the Nonavinakere Kaadusiddeshwara Mutt. DK Shivakumar will take the oath of office as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday evening, June 3.

The event will be kept highly simple, devoid of any heavy build-up or grandeur, at the Glass House of Lokabhavan near Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru. In light of the ongoing fuel crisis and to control traffic congestion in the city, the party high command has directed that the ceremony be conducted in a strictly low-key manner.
