Bandi Sanjay’s remark on ‘Muslim cap’ sparks political storm in Telangana

Telangana: A statement by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and BJP MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar has triggered a major political uproar in Telangana. Addressing an election rally, Sanjay declared that he would rather behead himself than wear a Muslim cap for votes, drawing sharp criticism from opposition parties.

Bandi Sanjay, known for his fiery speeches, said, “If the day ever comes when I must wear a cap just to seek votes, I would prefer to cut off my head. I will never do fake ‘namaz’ like Congress leaders to insult another religion. I am a Hindu, and I will remain a Hindu.”

He went on to target Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Congress leaders for allegedly engaging in religious appeasement during their campaign. “Even Muslim leaders like Azharuddin and AIMIM’s Owaisi never wear the cap for political gain.

But CM Revanth Reddy and Congress candidates were seen wearing it during their campaign. Does Revanth have the courage to ask Azharuddin to recite ‘Vakratunda Mahakaya’? Or will he invite Owaisi to a temple and make him sing Devi Stotra to gain Hindu votes?” Sanjay asked mockingly.

The remark has been widely condemned by opposition leaders, who accused the BJP leader of spreading communal hatred and diverting attention from real election issues. Congress and BRS leaders have demanded an apology, terming the statement “highly provocative and divisive.”
