Prime Minister Modi Praises Indian Expats in Dubai for Promoting Kannada Language

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the efforts of Indian expatriates residing in Dubai for their commendable initiative to popularize the beautiful Kannada language.

Speaking during his monthly radio address “Mann Ki Baat,” which was broadcast across the country, Prime Minister Modi praised the Kannada-speaking community in Dubai for their love for the language and their efforts to nurture it among future generations.

During his address, Modi shared how the Kannada expatriates in Dubai had posed a crucial question to themselves: “Our children are growing up in a world of technology, but are they drifting away from their native language?” This reflection led to the creation of the ‘Kannada School’ in Dubai.

At this school, children are being taught to read, write, and speak Kannada. Today, the school has educated nearly 1,000 children in the language, helping them stay connected with their roots while adapting to the globalized world around them.

“This initiative showcases the pride the Kannada people have in their language and culture,” Modi said, referring to the efforts of these expatriates as an inspiring example of preserving regional languages in the face of globalization.

Prime Minister Modi also expressed his appreciation for the Kannada diaspora, calling it a testament to their enduring love for their heritage. “Kannada Naadu-Nudi, our pride,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of language in preserving cultural identity.

This edition of “Mann Ki Baat,” the 129th episode, was broadcast on Sunday and marked the final episode of the year 2025. In his address, the Prime Minister also reminisced about India’s achievements across various fields in 2025, celebrating the nation’s progress and resilience.

The story of the Kannada School in Dubai serves as a beacon of hope for cultural preservation, especially as Indian communities abroad continue to promote and celebrate their regional languages.
