Hotels, restaurants and other commercial establishments have received a welcome boost as the price of the 19 kilogram Commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by Rs 183.50 with effect from July 1. The latest revision is expected to lower operating costs for businesses that rely heavily on LPG for daily operations.
The price cut comes after several months of continuous increases in Commercial LPG cylinder rates. According to industry sources, the cylinder price had climbed sharply in recent months, putting additional financial pressure on restaurants, catering businesses and small commercial establishments.
Hotel industry representatives said the revised rates will provide immediate relief to businesses that have been dealing with rising fuel expenses. The reduction follows a period during which commercial LPG prices had reached significantly higher levels, making it difficult for many businesses to manage operating costs.
Commercial LPG cylinder prices had been revised upward four times in recent months. Oil marketing companies had raised the rates in multiple phases, resulting in a cumulative increase of more than Rs 1,300 before the latest reduction. The frequent hikes had affected businesses across the hospitality sector.
While commercial users have benefited from the latest revision, there has been no fresh reduction in domestic LPG cylinder prices. Earlier, the price of the 14.2 kilogram domestic LPG cylinder had increased in two separate revisions, adding to household expenses.
The latest reduction in Commercial LPG cylinder prices is expected to ease some of the burden on hotels and restaurants, with the revised rates becoming effective from July 1 across the country.
