Siddaramaiah to remain CM till 2028, says minister Zameer Ahmed Khan

Siddaramaiah: Waqf and Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan on Sunday clarified that there are no vacancies for the posts of Chief Minister or Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, asserting that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will continue in his post till 2028.

Speaking to reporters in Koppal, Zameer said, “Everyone aspires to become the Chief Minister, and D.K. Shivakumar’s supporters too have such hopes. But Siddaramaiah enjoys the full support of all MLAs and will continue for the full term. After 2028, it is my wish that Shivakumar becomes CM.”

He dismissed reports of an internal “November revolution” within the Congress, calling them a creation of the BJP. “There is no such revolution. BJP is spreading these rumours to create confusion,” he said.

Defending Deputy CM Shivakumar’s frequent temple visits, Zameer stated that his religious practices have nothing to do with any political ambition. “Shivakumar is a deeply spiritual person. His temple visits are part of his faith, not politics,” he clarified.

When asked about the Cabinet expansion, the minister said he was open to stepping down if the party instructed him to do so. “If the party decides, I’m ready to resign. I will follow the party’s discipline and serve as a loyal soldier,” he said.

Taking a swipe at the opposition, Zameer added, “The BJP itself is divided into multiple factions under B.Y. Vijayendra, R. Ashoka, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, and K.S. Eshwarappa. They should first resolve their internal differences before commenting on us.”
