Power Outages Scheduled Across Bengaluru for Two Days as BESCOM Begins Maintenance Work

BESCOM has announced planned power interruptions across several Bengaluru neighbourhoods on July 25 and 26 from 10 am to 5 pm due to quarterly maintenance at major substations.

Residents in several parts of Bengaluru are likely to experience prolonged power outages over the next two days as BESCOM carries out quarterly repair and maintenance work across key electricity distribution stations. Officials said the interruptions are part of a scheduled exercise aimed at improving the reliability of the power network before the next operational cycle.

The planned shutdown will affect areas connected to the 66 by 11 KV SRT, Victoria, Byadarahalli and Tavarekere substations. Electricity supply is expected to remain suspended from 10 am until 5 pm on both July 25 and July 26. BESCOM has urged households, businesses and commercial establishments to make advance arrangements to avoid inconvenience during the maintenance period.

Among the most affected locations are several busy commercial zones in central Bengaluru. City Market, Avenue Road, BVK Iyengar Road, RT Street, Chickpet, Nagarathpet, SP Road, Town Hall, JC Road, Minerva Circle, KG Road, Gandhinagar, Mysore Road, Chamarajpet and surrounding localities are expected to witness outages during the scheduled hours. Important institutions including Victoria Hospital and KIMS Hospital may also fall within the affected network.

In western Bengaluru, power interruptions have been announced for localities such as New KHB Colony, Bande Matha, KSRT area, Arundhati Nagar, Hoysala Circle, Satchidananda Nagar, Valagerahalli, Chikkanahalli, Sir MV Layout, Jnanabharathi Layout, Kodigehalli, Kenchanahalli, Seegehalli, BEML Layout, Magadi Main Road, Anjananagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Maruthi Nagar, Chokkasandra and Nagadevanahalli.

BESCOM officials said residents in Tavarekere and nearby industrial clusters should also prepare for disruptions. Areas including Tavarekere, Jattikavalu, Channenahalli, Yerapa Industrial Area, Gidadapalya, Hunaganahatti, Ganakal Industrial Area, Basavanapalya, Vatoor, Metipalya and Gangenahalli are listed in the shutdown schedule.

Byadarahalli and surrounding neighbourhoods are similarly expected to remain without electricity for several hours. The affected localities include Byadarahalli, Anjananagar, BEML Layout, Giddadakonenahalli, Muddinapalya, Hegganahalli, Tungnagar, Kempegowda Nagar, Hosahalli, Sunkadakatte Industrial Area, Nagarahole Nagar and Sanjeevini Nagar.

BESCOM said the maintenance activity is necessary to inspect transformers, feeders and other critical infrastructure components that require periodic servicing. The utility has requested consumers to charge essential devices in advance, ensure backup power arrangements where possible and avoid relying on uninterrupted electricity during the notified period.

The announcement has prompted many residents to check whether their neighbourhoods fall within the affected feeder zones, particularly as the outages coincide with working hours for offices, shops and small industries. BESCOM stated that power supply would be restored immediately after the completion of maintenance work, subject to weather and technical conditions.
