KSRTC to run 2,000 special buses from Bengaluru for Ugadi and Ramzan rush

Bengaluru : To manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming festivals of Ugadi and Ramzan, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has decided to operate around 2,000 special buses from Bengaluru to various destinations across the state and neighbouring regions.

According to officials, the special bus services will be operated from March 18 to March 20 from Bengaluru to several districts as thousands of people are expected to travel to their hometowns or tourist destinations for the festive holidays. Return services to Bengaluru will be arranged on March 22 to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers coming back after the celebrations.

The special buses will depart from major bus terminals including the Kempegowda Bus Station and the Mysuru Road Bus Terminal. In addition, buses will also be operated from various taluk and district bus stations depending on passenger demand and traffic conditions.

KSRTC officials stated that advance ticket booking facilities have been made available for passengers through the official website. Commuters can visit the KSRTC online portal to book e-tickets in advance. Seats can also be reserved through computerized booking counters located across Karnataka and in neighbouring states.

To encourage group travel, the corporation has announced special fare concessions. Passengers booking tickets for four or more people together will receive a 5 percent discount. Additionally, travellers who book both onward and return journey tickets together will get a 10 percent discount on the return fare.

The special buses will connect Bengaluru to several popular destinations including Dharmasthala, Kukke Subrahmanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davanagere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppal, Yadgir, Bidar, Mysuru, Hunsur, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalnagar and Madikeri.

Apart from services within Karnataka, buses will also operate to neighbouring states covering destinations such as Tirupati, Vijayawada and Hyderabad.
