Dharmasthala Case: MN Anucheth and Soumyalatha are indeed part of the newly formed Special Investigation Team (SIT) that will be investigating the Dharmasthala case. Dharmasthala case: MN Anucheth and Soumyalatha out from SIT team!.
Report from today even directly addresses rumours of officers leaving from SIT team. Some media report says that MN Anucheth or Soumyalatha having “self-quit” or resigned from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the Dharmasthala case.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara as saying “No officer has asked to leave the SIT” and that “They are competent officers in respectable positions. None of them have said that they won’t be able to do the job.”
The SIT is headed by DGP Pronab Mohanty. MN Anucheth, DIG (Recruitment), and Soumyalatha, DCP (CAR Headquarters), along with SP Jitendra Kumar Dayama, have been named as the other members of this SIT.

The Karnataka government officially formed an SIT on Saturday, July 19, 2025, to investigate the serious allegations of mass burials, disappearances, sexual assaults, and murders at Dharmasthala.
The SIT will be led by DGP Pronab Mohanty, Director-General of Police (Internal Security Division and Cyber Command). Other members include DIG (Recruitment) MN Anucheth, DCP (CAR HQ) Soumyalatha, and SP Jitendra Kumar Dayama.
The SIT’s mandate is broad. It will investigate all criminal cases reported or likely to be reported in connection with these allegations across all police stations in the state, essentially taking over from local police.
