Karnataka: No holiday for schools and colleges tomorrow: Fake order goes viral

Karnataka: In the wake of the death of Saalumarada Thimmakka, an order is being circulated everywhere stating that all government, aided and unaided schools and colleges in Karnataka have been given a holiday, and this is a fake order, said Forest and Biology, Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre.

Saalumarada Thimmakka’s mortal remains will be kept at Ravindra Kalakshetra on November 15 from 7.30 am to 10.30 am for public viewing. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed that the mortal remains of Nadoja Saalumarada Thimmakka, a Padma Shri awardee, be cremated at Kalagrama premises near Jnanabharathi on Saturday, November 15 at 12 am, Minister Eshwar B Khandre said.

Ishwar Khandre said that the mortal remains of Thimmakka, who taught trees like children and inspired millions of people, will be kept for the public to pay their last respects at the premises of Ravindra Kalakshetra from 7.30 am to 10.30 am, after which the last rites will be performed with full government honours at the premises of Kala Gram near Gnanabharathi.

Fake holiday order Minister’s Clarification:

A copy of the order declaring a holiday for schools and colleges is being circulated on social media. However, Minister Ishwar Khandre has clarified that this order is fake.

There will be no government holiday tomorrow. Only the last rites will be performed with government honours. The order in which former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna died has been distorted and made viral.

The officer who signed the copy of the order said that he is not currently working in that department. He has advised no one to make such fake orders viral.
