Dasara School Holiday Extend: The Karnataka Social & Educational Survey is being conducted in Karnataka, and today is the last day. However, since the survey was not completed as expected, the caste census period has been extended. Dasara School Holiday: No holiday Extend for these schools.
It has been decided to fully utilize teachers for the survey. Due to this, it has been decided to give a holiday to all schools in the state till October 18. The government has extended the Dussehra vacation for all government and aided schools in the state from tomorrow to October 18. But there is no holiday extend for private schools in the states.
Announcing this decision at a press conference after the meeting, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the social, economic and educational survey work being carried out by the Permanent Backward Classes Commission in the state has not been completed in some places. Therefore, it has been decided to use teachers in the survey work. Due to this, the holiday for schools has been extended till October 18.
The Karnataka Social & Educational Survey (popularly known as the caste census) is a comprehensive demographic and socio-economic enumeration exercise being conducted by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes (KSCBC).
Its primary objective is to gather accurate data on the social, economic, and educational conditions of all citizens in the state. This data is intended to inform the government’s future welfare schemes, policy decisions, and the implementation of equitable reservations.
A door-to-door survey utilizing a 60-question questionnaire to gather detailed information. The total estimated cost is Rs 420 crore. Approximately 1.8 lakh government and aided school teachers have been appointed as enumerators for the process.
Following a Karnataka High Court directive, the state has clarified that participation in the survey is voluntary, and citizens are not obligated to answer all 60 questions, particularly those deemed personal.
