Massive explosives haul in Haryana: over 2,500 kg suspected ammonium nitrate seized from Faridabad house linked to J&K doctor

New Delhi : In a shocking revelation, Haryana Police on Sunday seized 2,563 kg of suspected explosives from a rented house in Faridabad, just hours after recovering 350 kg of explosives, assault rifles, and ammunition from another residence in the same district.

According to police sources, the house was rented by Dr. Mujammil Shakeel, a physician from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, who is suspected to be a crucial link in a white-collar terror network involving radicalized professionals. Preliminary investigation suggests that the seized substance may be ammonium nitrate, commonly used in large-scale improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Police teams from Faridabad and Jammu & Kashmir jointly raided the premises early Sunday morning following information extracted from Dr. Shakeel during interrogation. The doctor was earlier arrested for allegedly facilitating terror activities under the guise of medical practice.

Officials said that the first seizure took place from a rented accommodation in Dhoj village, where officers discovered 350 kg of explosives, 20 electronic timers, assault rifles, handguns, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. The second house, located about four kilometers away in Fatehpur Taga village, yielded an even larger cache of suspected explosive material.

Investigators are now trying to determine whether the seized items were meant for use in a major terror plot targeting Delhi-NCR or elsewhere in North India. Security agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB), have been alerted and are assisting local police.

Senior officials described the discovery as one of the largest illegal explosive recoveries in recent years in North India. The nature of the seized materials and their intended use will be confirmed after forensic examination.

Authorities have intensified security checks across Haryana and Delhi, while forensic teams continue to collect evidence from both locations.

Police have also begun tracking the financial and digital links of Dr. Shakeel to determine the extent of the terror network he was allegedly part of.
