CCB seizes drugs worth Rs 5.50 crore in two separate cases

CCB seizes drugs: The Crime Control Bureau (CCB) conducted operations targeting drug peddlers and seized narcotics worth Rs 5.50 crore in two separate incidents, police said.

In the first case, two Nigerians—Duro Michel and Ibu Samuel—were arrested for smuggling and selling 1.47 kg of MDMA (crystal) in the city. The accused had brought the prohibited drug from Delhi and were allegedly making illegal profits by selling it near college campuses.

Both have been remanded in judicial custody, and a case has been registered at Hennur Police Station. Authorities said the duo had come to India on a business visa in 2017 and were initially under the NDPS Act has been registered at K.G. Halli Police Station, and the drugs have been taken into custody.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said that both operations reflect a growing trend of using international parcels and unsuspecting delivery channels to smuggle drugs into the city. Officials have urged the public and businesses to report any suspicious packages and assured strict action against violators.

These successful seizures come amid heightened vigilance against drug trafficking in Bengaluru, particularly targeting foreign nationals and organized networks exploiting legal loopholes to distribute narcotics across the city.

Authorities have maintained that such operations are part of a continuous crackdown to curb drug abuse and trafficking, ensuring safety in educational institutions and residential areas.

This marks one of the largest combined seizures in recent times, highlighting the efficiency of intelligence-led operations by the CCB and coordination with customs and local police stations.
