Attempted bank robbery foiled in Ankola, robbers break toilet wall

Karwar : In a bizarre incident, burglars attempted to rob the Bank of Baroda branch in Sunkasal village, Ankola taluk, Uttara Kannada district, by breaking through the toilet wall of the premises. The crime was discovered early, and the local police along with a special dog squad and forensic team rushed to the site. Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepan M.N. personally visited the branch to oversee the investigation. The case has been officially registered at Ankola Police Station.
The Bank of Baroda branch is located along National Highway 63. According to police sources, the robbers avoided areas covered by CCTV cameras and targeted the back wall of the toilet, thinking it would provide an undetected entry. Once inside, they tried to break open the strong room but failed. With no access to the cash, the burglars fled the scene empty-handed.
Authorities have launched a thorough investigation, collecting forensic evidence and reviewing nearby CCTV footage to identify the culprits. SP Deepan stated that the police are examining all possible leads and have intensified patrolling in the area to prevent any further incidents. No casualties were reported in the attempted robbery.
The incident highlights a growing trend of unusual methods employed by criminals to target banks in rural areas. Local residents have expressed concern over security measures at banking facilities and have urged authorities to enhance surveillance and safety protocols.
