Former RCB captain out from IPL 2026
The former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain who has decided to withdraw his name from the IPL 2026 auction after 14 consecutive seasons is Faf du Plessis. He confirmed the decision on Saturday, November 29, 2025, stating that he will instead be participating in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season.
He led Royal Challengers Bengaluru from 2022 to 2024, with his most prolific season coming in 2023 where he scored 730 runs. He played for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2025 season.
He stated in his official announcement that he wants to take on a “new challenge” by playing in the PSL, and that the timing works better for him at this stage of his career to manage his workload. He was signed by RCB in the 2022 mega auction and was immediately handed the captaincy of the team, leading the franchise for three seasons (2022–2024).
His best season with the bat came while captaining RCB in 2023, where he scored 730 runs in 14 matches. This impressive effort stands out as one of the most successful campaigns by an RCB captain. He also had a strong season in 2022, scoring 468 runs in 16 matches.
He transitioned to RCB after being released by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the 2022 mega auction. His ability to thrive in the leadership role and his consistent run-scoring made his tenure with RCB highly notable.

He played a year 2012, 2014-2015, 2018-2021 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) an integral role in their title wins. Was the Player of the Match in the 2021 final for his score of 86. Finished just two runs short of the Orange Cap in 2021, scoring 633 runs.
2016-2017 he played for Rising Pune Supergiant for the franchise during CSK’s suspension. In 2022-2024 Served as the captain for three seasons (2022-2024) in Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). His most prolific season was in 2023, where he scored 730 runs in 14 matches. In last season he played for Delhi capital.
