Murugha Mutt seer: court given clean chit in first POCSO case
Shivamurthy Murugha Sharan: The 2nd Additional Sessions Court of Chitradurga has granted big relief to Dr. Shivamurthy Murugha Mutt seer in the first POCSO case. The court has ruled that he is not guilty, and Murugha seer is free. Along with him, two other accused have also got relief. Advocate C.V. Nagesh argued on behalf of Murughashree.
The first POCSO case was registered against Murughashree at Nazarabad police station in Mysore on August 26, 2022. Two minor students of the monastery hostel had filed a complaint against A1 Murughashree, A2 Lady Warden Rashmi, A3 Basavaditya, A4 Manager Paramashivayya, and A5 Lawyer Gangadharayya.
On August 27, the case was transferred to Chitradurga Rural Police Station. On September 1, 2022, the police arrested A1 Murughashree, A2 Warden Rashmiyan, A3 Basavaditya, A5 Lawyer Gangadharaiah were dropped during the charge sheet.
Another case was registered against Murughashree at Nazarabad police station in Mysore on August 13, 2022, based on a complaint filed by the cook of the monastery. In the complaint, the cook had mentioned that he had sexually abused two of his minor daughters while they were staying in the monastery hostel.
A case was registered against A1 Murughashree, A2 Warden Rashmi, A3 Basavaditya, A4 Paramashivaiah, A5 Lawyer Gangadharaiah, A6 Murughashree Assistant Mahalinga, and A7 Kitchen Assistant Karibasappa.
Murugha Sri was granted conditional bail by the High Court on November 8, 2023 and was released from jail on November 16. However, Murughasree was arrested again on the afternoon of November 20 after he failed to get bail in the 2nd POCSO case. Although he was arrested on the orders of the Chitradurga 2nd Additional District and Sessions Court, Murugha Sri was released in the evening on the instructions of the High Court.
