Gas Cylinders Stolen From Bengaluru Apartment Amid LPG Shortage

According to reports, the incident occurred in an apartment complex in Begur, located in the Karnataka capital.

Bengaluru: A theft involving gas cylinders has come to light in Bengaluru as concerns grow over an LPG shortage across the country. The shortage, reportedly linked to the ongoing Iran war situation, has led to rising demand and incidents of illegal trade and theft.

According to reports, the incident occurred in an apartment complex in Begur, located in the Karnataka capital. Two individuals wearing helmets arrived at the apartment on a scooter on Thursday. At the time, several residents were busy with Ugadi festival celebrations, which may have helped the suspects move around unnoticed.

CCTV footage later revealed how the theft was carried out. One of the suspects opened the gate and quietly entered the apartment building while the other waited outside near the scooter.

The man who entered the building allegedly took two gas cylinders from a residence and slowly brought them to the gate. After that, the scooter was pushed inside the premises, and both cylinders were placed on the vehicle.

The suspects then quickly left the apartment premises together. The family living in the house realized the cylinders were missing only later and became worried when they could not find them.

After checking the CCTV recordings, the residents discovered that two men had stolen the gas cylinders. A police complaint was filed, and authorities have registered a case and started an investigation.

Police officials are currently trying to identify the suspects using the CCTV footage. Meanwhile, the video clip showing the gas cylinders stolen incident has gone viral on social media, drawing attention to the rising thefts linked to the LPG shortage.
