Heavy Rain Likely in Bengaluru and Several Karnataka Districts

The weather department has predicted thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across several Karnataka districts, including Bengaluru, while authorities urged residents to remain alert during the next two days.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted widespread rainfall in several parts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, over the next two days. Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds are also expected in multiple districts across the state.

According to officials, southern interior districts such as Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagar are likely to receive heavy showers along with thunder and lightning activity.

Bengaluru Braces for Wet Weather

Bengaluru is expected to witness rain and thunderstorms during the coming days as weather conditions remain unstable across southern Karnataka. Residents have been advised to stay cautious, especially during evening hours when rainfall intensity may increase.

Authorities said sudden showers and gusty winds could affect traffic movement in several urban areas of the city.

Coastal and North Karnataka Districts on Alert

The weather department also forecast rain accompanied by winds moving at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour in coastal districts including Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.

In northern interior Karnataka, districts such as Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, and Haveri are expected to experience thunderstorms and strong winds reaching up to 50 kilometres per hour.

Meanwhile, Uttara Kannada district is likely to witness comparatively dry weather conditions.

Yellow Alert Issued in Several Areas

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre issued a yellow alert for parts of southern Karnataka due to the possibility of heavy rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm during the forecast period.

Officials urged people to remain cautious and follow weather advisories issued by authorities. Disaster management teams also requested residents to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and thunderstorm activity.
