BESCOM vigilance SP Lavanya N passes away at 39 after cancer battle

 

Bengaluru, : Lavanya N, a 2010-batch Karnataka State Police Service (KSPS) officer serving as Superintendent of Police in BESCOM Vigilance, passed away on Saturday after battling colon cancer. She was 39.

According to officials, Lavanya had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru for the past few weeks. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to the illness around 2:30 pm. Her untimely demise has sent shockwaves across the police fraternity and administrative circles.

Lavanya had built a distinguished career in the police department over the years. She served in multiple key positions, including Additional Superintendent of Police in Mandya and Ballari districts. She also held important roles in the Intelligence wing in Bengaluru and later as SP in the DCRE (District Crime Records Bureau). Since 2023, she had been serving as SP in BESCOM Vigilance, where she was known for her professionalism and integrity.

A native of Doddaganjuru village in Chintamani taluk of Chikkaballapur district, Lavanya was widely respected among colleagues for her dedication to duty and calm leadership style.

Senior police officials recalled that Director General Alok Mohan (referred in reports as DG Salim earlier) had visited her residence in Vidyaranyapura two months ago to enquire about her health, reflecting the concern within the department over her condition.

She is survived by her husband and two young children—a 10-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter. Her passing leaves a deep void both in her family and in the state police service.

Condolences have been pouring in from colleagues, officials, and public representatives, remembering her as a committed officer who served with distinction until her final days.
