Wife murdered over financial dispute in Bengaluru’s Peenya area

Bengaluru : A domestic dispute over money turned fatal in Nagasandra under the Peenya Police Station limits, where a man allegedly killed his wife following a heated argument. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of escalating family conflicts.
The deceased has been identified as Kavya (34), while the accused husband, Dariyappa, has been taken into custody by police. According to initial reports, the couple had been arguing frequently over financial matters for the past week.
Police sources revealed that Dariyappa had brought home ₹2 lakh recently. A dispute erupted when Kavya insisted on giving the money to her brother. The disagreement soon escalated into a violent altercation, during which the accused allegedly pressed his foot on her neck, leading to her death.
The couple, originally from Belagavi, had two children and were reportedly facing ongoing marital issues, particularly related to property and finances. Dariyappa is said to have been working as a contract labourer in the city.
A senior police officer said, “Preliminary investigation suggests that the murder occurred during a domestic quarrel over money. The accused has been secured, and further inquiry is underway.”
Adding another dimension to the case, Dariyappa’s friend Venkatachalayya made serious allegations about his behaviour. “He had a habit of getting involved with other women and would even show such photos to his wife. Kavya was deeply disturbed by this,” he claimed.
He further stated, “I had intervened several times and tried to resolve their disputes. Recently, they had moved to a new house and had cut off contact with us.”
Police have visited the scene, conducted a spot inspection, and shifted the body for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and investigators are examining all aspects, including possible domestic abuse and financial stress.
The tragic incident has raised concerns about unresolved domestic conflicts and the need for timely intervention in troubled marriages.
