A shocking murder case has come to light in Rajasthan’s capital, Jaipur, where police allege that a young woman conspired to kill her mother to gain a government job and secure family property. Investigators claim the accused attempted to disguise the crime as a fatal road accident.
The victim, 45-year-old Neeraja Sharma, a resident of Pratap Nagar, died on July 3 after being struck by a speeding SUV. Initially, the incident appeared to be a traffic accident, but investigators later uncovered evidence suggesting it was a carefully planned murder.
The case took a dramatic turn after the victim’s brother approached the police, expressing doubts about the circumstances surrounding his sister’s death. Based on his complaint and the suspicions raised against the victim’s daughter and other relatives, police launched a detailed investigation.
According to investigators, the accused allegedly hired contract killers for ₹7 lakh to carry out the murder and deliberately make it look like a road accident. During questioning, police claim the victim’s 23-year-old daughter, Ayushi, confessed to her role in the conspiracy.
Police said the motive behind the alleged crime was linked to a compassionate government appointment offered to the family after the death of Ayushi’s father, Vijay Kumar Sharma, about a year ago. While the daughter reportedly wanted the clerical post, her mother accepted the appointment instead. Investigators believe this, along with a dispute over family property, became the motive behind the alleged murder.
Police have arrested seven people, including the daughter, a relative, and the alleged contract killers. Authorities said efforts are continuing to trace another suspect who remains absconding. The investigation is ongoing.
