Woman Sets Vehicles on Fire Outside High Court Sparks Panic and Police Action

A shocking incident unfolded outside a High Court when a woman set parked vehicles on fire causing panic among bystanders before police arrested her and began investigation.

Fire incident outside High Court creates panic

A dramatic incident near a High Court complex caused panic after a woman allegedly set several parked vehicles on fire. The flames quickly spread across multiple vehicles creating a tense situation for people present in the area.

The incident took place in Cuttack in the state of Odisha on Tuesday morning near the premises of the High Court. Witnesses said the woman arrived at the location and targeted vehicles parked outside the court complex.

Vehicles damaged in sudden fire

According to initial reports the woman poured petrol on a scooter parked near the court and set it on fire. She also threw a burning object toward the court premises which caused flames to spread rapidly to nearby vehicles.

Within minutes the fire engulfed several vehicles including a Bolero vehicle an electric scooter and two motorcycles. Thick smoke and rising flames created panic among people nearby who rushed away from the scene for safety.

Firefighters control the blaze

Emergency response teams from three nearby fire stations quickly reached the location after receiving alerts. Firefighters worked to control the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further inside the court premises.

Their swift response helped bring the situation under control although multiple vehicles were already severely damaged in the incident.

Woman claims she wanted to attract Prime Minister attention

After the incident the woman reportedly spoke to media personnel and explained her actions. She claimed that her intention was to draw the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi toward her issues.

According to her statement she had purchased petrol earlier and soaked old clothes in it before coming to the High Court area. She said she arrived there with her son in an auto rickshaw.

The woman also stated that while she was preparing to ignite the material she asked a bystander to record the moment on video. She insisted that she had no intention of damaging vehicles but sparks from the burning material accidentally fell on a scooter leading to the fire spreading quickly.

Police arrest suspect and begin investigation

Police detained the woman shortly after the incident and later identified her as Minati Sahu from the Biridi area of Jagatsinghpur district. Officers said she had expressed a desire to meet the Prime Minister and resorted to the act when she could not find another way to get attention.

Officials added that the woman appeared to be under emotional distress and her mental condition is also being examined as part of the investigation.

Authorities have registered a case and launched a detailed inquiry into the incident. Meanwhile video footage of the event captured by CCTV cameras installed near the High Court premises has circulated widely on social media.
