Murder uncovered during funeral in Bengaluru; accused relative taken into custody

Bengaluru: What was initially believed to be an accidental fall under intoxication has now turned out to be a case of murder in Bengaluru. The shocking truth came to light when police intervened during the victim’s funeral proceedings.
The deceased has been identified as Inayath, a mechanic by profession, while the accused is Masoor Ahmed, his relative. The incident occurred in Austin Town under the jurisdiction of Viveknagar Police Station.
According to police sources, Inayath had been residing for the past 11 years at his uncle’s house in Austin Town, Viveknagar. Following a recent divorce triggered by family disputes, he had been living alone. In recent months, tensions reportedly escalated as Masoor Ahmed allegedly began pressuring Inayath to vacate the house.
On Sunday, a heated argument broke out between the two over the issue. The verbal altercation soon turned physical, with both men allegedly assaulting each other. During the scuffle, Inayath was severely beaten and collapsed. He died on the spot due to the injuries sustained in the assault.
In an attempt to mislead family members and avoid suspicion, Masoor Ahmed allegedly informed relatives that Inayath had consumed alcohol, fallen from the first floor of the house and died accidentally. Believing the claim, the family proceeded with funeral arrangements as per customary practices.
However, while prayers were being offered at a mosque and preparations were underway to take the body for burial, police arrived at the spot following suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. A post-mortem examination reportedly revealed multiple injury marks on the body, contradicting the claim of an accidental fall.
During questioning, inconsistencies in Masoor Ahmed’s version emerged. Sustained interrogation led to the revelation that the death was a result of assault. Police have since taken the accused into custody and registered a case of murder.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the sequence of events and gather additional evidence in the case.
