Nitin Nabin: On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally congratulated Nitin Nabin on his election as the 12th National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
During the ceremony at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, the Prime Minister made a statement that quickly went viral, reinforcing the party’s organizational hierarchy. “When it comes to the party, Nitin Nabin is the boss and I am a party worker. Now Nitin Nabin ji is the president of all of us.”
This statement was made at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi during the ceremony where Nitin Nabin formally took charge as the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), succeeding J.P. Nadda
At 45 years old, Nitin Nabin is the youngest National President in the history of the BJP. He succeeds J.P. Nadda, who has been serving as the Health Minister in the Modi government. PM Modi described Nabin as a “millennial” leader who has bridged the gap between the era of the radio and the era of Artificial Intelligence.
The PM’s comment was a symbolic gesture to reinforce the BJP’s internal culture, where the party organization is held above the government. He added jokingly, “He will now write my CR (Character Roll). I am awaiting his guidance.”
Nitin Nabin was elected unopposed after 37 sets of nomination papers were filed in his favor, with PM Modi himself being one of the proposers. Nitin Nabin A five-time MLA from the Bankipur constituency in Patna, he is the first leader from Bihar to hold the BJP National Presidency.
He previously served as a Cabinet Minister in the Bihar government (handling portfolios like Road Construction and Law). He gained national prominence for his role as the party’s In-Charge for Chhattisgarh, where he was credited with the BJP’s decisive victory in the 2023 Assembly elections.
