Lucknow: A disturbing incident involving a wild boar attacking a forest officer has triggered widespread concern after a video of the incident went viral on social media. Wild boar attacks forest officer in Uttar Pradesh, shocking video goes viral.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Sirsauli village of the Ujhani area in Budaun district, Uttar Pradesh, when a forest department team was attempting to capture the animal following complaints from villagers.
According to officials, Forest Officer Shubham Pratap sustained serious injuries after being attacked by the wild boar during the operation. He was initially rescued by fellow staff members and rushed to a government medical college hospital.
Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to a higher medical centre in Bareilly for advanced treatment. The wild boar had reportedly strayed into Sirsauli village and caused panic among residents.
Several villagers were attacked earlier, prompting locals to inform the forest department. Acting on the complaints, a four-member forest team reached the spot along with four to six local villagers to assist in the capture operation.
During the operation, officials located the boar hiding inside dense bushes and attempted to trap it using a net. However, the animal suddenly charged at Forest Officer Shubham Pratap. The attack was so swift that he had no time to react or defend himself. The unexpected assault created panic at the scene.
Other forest personnel shouted for help and tried to scare the boar away using sticks. Despite being hit multiple times, the wild boar continued its aggressive attack on the injured officer for nearly one and a half minutes.
Eventually, when the animal momentarily diverted its attention after being struck by another staff member, the team managed to pull Shubham Pratap away from the spot. By then, he had already suffered severe injuries.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing menace of wild boars in rural areas. Farmers in the Ujhani development block have been facing continuous problems due to wild boar attacks. More than 10,000 farmers across around 12 villages are reportedly affected.
Villages including Abdullaganj, Sirsauli, Allahpur Bhogi, Mirzapur, Dudenagar, Jamroli, Bihar Harishchandra, Vasantnagar, Nanakheda, Pipraul Pukhta, Chandanpur, Narsaina, Sahaswan and surrounding areas along the Ganga river have witnessed repeated crop destruction.
Farmers say wild boars have been damaging crops such as potatoes and wheat for years. While fields promised good yields of 20 to 25 quintals per acre, repeated boar attacks have caused heavy losses.
Locals have urged the government and district administration to take urgent and effective measures to control the wild boar population, warning that continued inaction could lead to severe consequences for both farmers and public safety.
