Malur Assembly Recount Begins Amid Tight Security, High Stakes for BJP and Congress

Kolar: The much-awaited re-polling and vote recounting at Malur Assembly constituency has commenced at the campus of the Horticultural University in Malur. A strict prohibition zone has been enforced around the counting center to ensure smooth conduct of the process.

The counting began at 8 am under heavy security deployment. CCTV surveillance has been installed around the premises, and police personnel are maintaining tight vigil. Election agents have been thoroughly checked before being allowed entry into the center.

Inside the counting hall, the use of mobile phones and electronic devices has been strictly prohibited. Media personnel have also been restricted from entering the premises, as per instructions from the election authorities.

The re-polling follows a Supreme Court directive after disputes arose in the previous assembly election. In the earlier vote, Congress candidate K.Y. Nanjegowda had won by a narrow margin of 248 votes. BJP candidate K.S. Manjunath Gowda had approached the court, alleging irregularities in the counting process, which led to the Supreme Court ordering a fresh counting of votes.

Authorities are ensuring that the entire process is transparent and orderly. The heightened security measures are aimed at preventing any untoward incidents and ensuring that all agents and officials perform their duties without disruption. The tense atmosphere reflects the high stakes of the recount, with both major parties closely monitoring the developments.

The re-polling and recounting are expected to be completed by the evening, after which the final result will be officially declared. Election officials have requested all stakeholders to cooperate fully and maintain discipline to ensure a smooth conclusion to the process.

This recount marks a critical moment in the Malur constituency, as political observers and local residents await the official outcome after the Supreme Court’s intervention.
