Tamil Nadu EVP Film City owner booked for harassing Bengaluru-based fashion designer

Tamil Nadu: A case has been registered against Santosh Reddy, owner of Tamil Nadu’s EVP Film City, for allegedly harassing a Bengaluru-based fashion designer and threatening her life after she refused his advances. The Vyalikaval police have filed the case based on a complaint by a 42-year-old resident of Sadashivanagar.

According to police, the complainant, a married fashion designer whose husband works in North India, had been living in an apartment on Sankey Main Road for several years. In 2023, Santosh Reddy’s daughter, Bhavanya Reddy, approached her to design outfits for a family wedding, after which the designer became acquainted with Santosh Reddy through his daughter.

Police said Reddy had later expressed interest in investing in the woman’s fashion company, but she and her family members declined the offer. Months later, Reddy allegedly began contacting her personally under various pretexts.

In her complaint, the woman stated that Reddy once called to say his daughter had run away from home and sought emotional support. “On July 14, he came to my house, confessed his love, and demanded that I accept his proposal.

When I refused, he physically assaulted me, misbehaved, and punched me on the face. He also threatened to kill me and my children studying in Chennai if I didn’t reciprocate his love,” the complaint said.

Police have issued a notice to Santosh Reddy, directing him to appear for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
