NH Konareddi stresses adherence to high command guidance on cabinet expansion

Dharwad : Legislator N.H. Konareddi has clarified that he will strictly follow directions from the party high command regarding discussions on cabinet reshuffles and ministerial expansion. Speaking to reporters on Sunday during the Kittur festival, he said the high command had instructed that such matters should not be publicly discussed by MLAs.

“I have been informed during the Kittur festival that the high command recommends a cabinet expansion every two and a half years. While I may have ambitions for a ministerial position, it is not appropriate to repeatedly express them. The high command has directed that MLAs should not comment on potential CM changes or cabinet expansions. I will abide by these instructions,” Konareddi stated.

He also commented on the performance of Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, noting his achievements in departmental reforms. “Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has brought significant improvements in his department. Even when he previously held portfolios such as Agriculture, Rural Development, and Panchayat Raj, he performed commendably. Retaining capable ministers while making selective changes is a decision left to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister,” Konareddi added.

The legislator’s remarks come amid ongoing speculation over potential cabinet reshuffles and leadership strategies within the state Congress. His adherence to the high command’s guidance signals a cautious approach in navigating intra-party dynamics, ensuring that public statements do not fuel unnecessary political debates.

Konareddi emphasized that all decisions regarding ministerial positions ultimately rest with the party leadership. “Our responsibility as MLAs is to focus on our constituencies and legislative work while trusting the party to make strategic decisions regarding the cabinet and leadership,” he said.

Observers note that such statements aim to maintain party discipline and avoid public disagreements ahead of possible reshuffles, reflecting the party’s structured approach to managing internal leadership matters.
