Woman gang raped by two men under pretext of offering lift, both arrested

Woman Gang Raped: Chikkaballapur, In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old woman walking alone along the national highway near in Chikkaballapur was allegedly lured by two men under the pretext of offering her a lift and was sexually assaulted in a deserted area.

Police have arrested the accused, identified as Sikandar, a mechanic, and his friend Janardhana Achari. A case has been registered at the Chikkaballapur women’s police station.

Incident details

The woman was walking along National Highway 69 connecting Chikkaballapur and Gauribidanur on Friday evening. With no money for bus fare and without her Aadhaar card, she decided to walk to her native village.

According to police, Sikandar, who noticed her walking alone, stopped and offered her a lift, pretending to help. However, instead of taking her toward Gauribidanur, he drove her to a deserted locality and allegedly assaulted her despite her resistance.

Sikandar then reportedly called his friend Janardhana Achari, who also joined him in the assault. After the heinous act, they dropped the traumatized woman near a petrol bunk close to a farmer’s house and fled the scene.

Later, social worker Shilpa noticed the woman wandering near BB Road in Chikkaballapur in a distressed state and questioned her, uncovering the shocking details. Based on CCTV footage near the petrol bunk showing the accused with the victim, police tracked and arrested Sikandar and Janardhana, who have since confessed to the crime.

The woman is currently undergoing treatment at Chikkaballapur District Hospital, while police continue to investigate. The incident has sparked public outrage in the region, with locals demanding strict punishment for the accused.
