Fake Godman Khader Sheikh arrested for Rs 1.87 Crore Fraud in Solapur Over ‘Hidden Treasure’ Claim

Fake Godman Khader Sheikh: In a sensational case of deception, Solapur police have arrested a man posing as a spiritual figure who allegedly defrauded several residents by claiming he could retrieve hidden treasure from farmland.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Khader Sheikh, was apprehended in Vijayapura after duping victims of a staggering Rs 1.87 crore. According to police reports, Sheikh convinced multiple individuals in Solapur that a large treasure was buried beneath the land owned by one Govind Vanjari.

Claiming mystical powers and spiritual rituals, he promised to extract the treasure and demanded large sums of money to perform the necessary rites. The victims, lured by the promise of wealth, reportedly paid Sheikh over Rs 1.87 crore over a period of time.

When the promised treasure never materialized, suspicions grew and a formal complaint was lodged at the Solapur police station. Acting on the complaint, a special team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Dattatreya Kale launched an investigation and tracked the accused to Vijayapura.

Upon arrest, police searched Sheikh’s residence and recovered several items allegedly used in occult practices, including ritualistic materials and paraphernalia. Authorities have confirmed that Sheikh had no legitimate spiritual credentials and operated purely to exploit the gullibility of his victims.

The case has raised concerns about the prevalence of fraudulent spiritual practitioners and the need for public awareness. Police have urged citizens to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities involving claims of hidden wealth or supernatural powers. Further investigation is underway to identify additional victims and uncover the full extent of the fraud.
