Centre Directs States to Ban CJP Protests: 45 Delhi Metro Stations Shut, Internet Suspended
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has reportedly directed all states to prohibit CJP protests and has issued instructions through the Union Home Secretary to state governments to enforce the order.

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) is holding a massive protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi today over issues related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Centre Directs States to Ban CJP Protests: 45 Delhi Metro Stations Shut, Internet Suspended.
Ahead of the demonstration, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has reportedly directed all states to prohibit CJP protests and has issued instructions through the Union Home Secretary to state governments to enforce the order.
As part of extensive security arrangements, authorities have temporarily closed 45 Delhi Metro stations until 6:00 PM. The affected stations include Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Barakhamba Road, ITO, Delhi Gate, Khan Market, and Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, among others.
In addition, the government has ordered the temporary suspension of internet services within a 4-kilometre radius of the protest venue. Mobile internet services across all technologies have been suspended from 10:00 PM on Friday until 10:00 PM on Saturday after receiving temporary approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs as a precautionary measure.
More Than 1,000 People Detained Ahead of Protest:
Meanwhile, Delhi Police have taken more than 1,000 people into preventive custody across the national capital ahead of the protest called by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and the All India Students’ Association (AISA).
The protest has been organised to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The preventive operation began around 12:30 AM on Saturday. According to police sources, nearly 250 people were detained in the South-East Delhi district alone, particularly from areas around Shaheen Bagh, which had served as a major centre of the anti-CAA protests in 2020.
More than 100 people were also detained from Shahdara and East Delhi, which border Uttar Pradesh. Senior police officials said that individuals with a history of mobilising unlawful gatherings during previous protests were identified and detained as a preventive measure.
Security has been significantly tightened across sensitive locations in the national capital to prevent any disruption to law and order. Senior police officials are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that the protest remains peaceful and that no untoward incidents occur.
